NETBALL - A FUN TEAM SPORT
East Lindfield Netball Club’s main goal is to
encourage girls to play and enjoy netball. The Players and Parents Code of
Conduct is intended to reinforce these aims and provide a supportive environment
for the players regardless of ability.
Players Code of
Conduct
-
I will show up on time for training and
participate wholeheartedly.
-
I will offer other players praise and
encouragement.
-
I will play each game to the best of my
ability.
-
I will play the positions my coach asks me to
play willingly.
-
I will congratulate the other team at the end
of the game and thank the umpires and coach.
-
I will respect the coaches’ decision.
-
I will respect the umpires’ decision.
-
I will keep my room clean and help mum whenever
she asks.
But most of all
I will have FUN!
Parents
Code of Conduct
-
I will support the coaches and managers by
ensuring my daughter is on time for training and matches, properly attired
and equipped, and participates wholeheartedly.
-
I will offer praise and encouragement to the
team.
-
Children
perform best when they are praised for what they do well and coached on
areas that need improvement.
-
Only the coach
is allowed to coach from the sidelines during a game and umpires may
penalize a team if parents start offering advice.
-
The children
should go to their coaches at the breaks to get instructions rather than
going to their parents which is very distracting for players and coaches.
-
I will support the coaches decision about where
my daughter plays each week.
-
Whilst your
child may play a position well good teamwork requires that all players
skills are developed.
-
If your child
hears you criticizing the coach constantly she will do the same.
-
Focus on the
positives as much as possible.
-
I will phone the coach and discuss issues
directly at a time convenient to the coach.
-
Children do
not need to hear criticism of themselves or their abilities particularly in
front of their team mates.
-
I will support my daughter’s club to the best
of my abilities, understanding that this club is run entirely by volunteers.
-
We have a
great team of parents coaching, managing and umpiring but we are a new club
in its formative years.
-
If you can see
something that really needs doing see if you can take it on – there are lots
of jobs which only need a few hours, often at the start of the year and they
can really make a difference.
-
We also need
to remember that many parents can only take on these jobs for a couple of
years and then they need a break so consider if there is anything you would
like to train up for and come and chat with the Committee about it.
Coach
Code of Conduct
The role of the coach is to…
-
Assist players in learning and developing
their knowledge and skills
-
Encourage and guide players to strive to
better their performance
-
Encourage harmony within a team
-
Foster a sense of fun and love of sport
-
Encourage players to work together as a team.
Netball is not an individual sport and one player, no matter how good, can
play by them selves.
-
Players in a team must learn to rely on their
team mates
-
Foster encouragement amongst the players and
discourage criticism between players
-
Ensure all players have a fair run on the
court throughout the season
-
Help build the self esteem and confidence of
each player
-
Develop and follow a program that will
enhance the knowledge and skills of each player
-
Set a good example to the team – for example
turn up on time for all training sessions and to have thoroughly prepared
all training sessions
-
Make
sure all players stretch and warm up/cool down before and after each
training session and match
-
Have emergency contact numbers on hand at all
training sessions and matches
-
Act responsibly at all times
-
Take
care of, and respect, all club equipment at training sessions and matches.
